Paris FC opened its Ligue 1 season with a 0-0 draw against Troyes, earning an away point. The match took place on Saturday evening on Troyes' pitch. Head coach Liam Rosenior, who took charge of the club at the start of the season, said he places little emphasis on friendly match results, noting the club had recorded three losses and one win in five friendlies.
Coach’s Analysis
During the pre‑match press conference, Rosenior highlighted the overall performance as “half‑bright.” He maintained a positive outlook, stating: “We wanted to win but we knew the opponent would be up to the task and we weren’t surprised. We take a point away for our first match. We didn’t concede because of solid defensive work. I found we were fairly well organised and Ilan Kebbal hit the post.”
First Half Disappointing
The first half of the game was marked by disappointment. Few movements, runs and a central defence that spent a long time holding the ball without passing solutions. Rosenior noted that changes in the game plan, each player’s role and overall organisation were still adapting. He also mentioned that players such as Pablo Pagis, Lassine Sinayoko, Rudy Matondo and Luca Koleosho had not yet found the framework of their performances from the previous season.
Areas for Improvement
At the break, Rosenior made a personnel change, stressing that more work was needed on building coherent attacks. The match saw 101 lost balls, limiting offensive opportunities. The coach paid tribute to Troyes, saying: “Frankly, we must praise Troyes for putting a lot of energy, intensity and for keeping us busy. And as I said, we are at the very beginning of the process, of our project. So of course we need to improve. But alongside that, there were quite a few positive things, including defensive and collective solidity. And again, we know there are quite a few aspects we must continue to improve. And we will do it gradually as the matches go on.”
