Paris Saint-Germain confirms Kang-In Lee's move to Atlético Madrid
Paris Saint-Germain announced on Saturday the transfer of South Korean attacking midfielder Kang-In Lee to Atlético Madrid for a fee close to €40 million. The 25-year-old, a two-time European champion with Paris Saint-Germain, has signed a contract until 2031 with the Spanish club.
Why this departure?
Lee, who joined in 2020, failed to establish himself as a regular starter under Luis Enrique despite strong performances in Ligue 1 (4 goals and 5 assists this season). Paris Saint-Germain acknowledged his contribution to their two most recent Champions League victories.
What does this mean for Paris Saint-Germain?
This transfer marks the continuation of Paris Saint-Germain's squad rebuild, which has already seen several players leave this summer. The club thanked Lee for his 12 titles, including the last two Champions League wins.
And for Atlético Madrid?
Lee becomes Atlético's third summer signing after Morten Hjulmand and Alejandro Grimaldo. He fills the gap left by Antoine Griezmann's departure and strengthens Diego Simeone's attack.
