Paris Saint-Germain is close to signing Ferran Torres, the Barcelona attacker. The player could undergo a medical check-up on Friday or Saturday if the final details of his transfer are settled. Paris Saint-Germain and FC Barcelona have reached a principle agreement on a transfer fee of around €50 million, plus €5 million in bonuses.

Coach Luis Enrique should not rush Torres' first steps with the French team. The player returns from a several-week break after the World Cup and should follow an individual training program. He should not play in the Trophée des champions against Lens on Sunday.

But Paris Saint-Germain aims to make its first steps on Sunday 23 August against Rennes at the Parc des Princes, in Ligue 1, after spending over a week training with his new teammates. Luis Enrique has a clear idea of how to use Ferran Torres, the Spanish coach appreciating the diversity of his qualities and his ability to play in the heart of the attack or on the wings.

His arrival comes after the departure of Portuguese Gonçalo Ramos from Paris to Milan. If Ousmane Dembélé, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Désiré Doué appear currently as the main offensive options, Luis Enrique's frequent rotation will give Ferran enough playing time. Among the other possibilities mentioned is the repositioning of Désiré Doué to a position closer to the heart of the attack, which would free up a place on the wing for Torres.
